Power in Partnership
In 1 Samuel chapter 30, King David and his army of six hundred were pursuing the Amalekites who had taken captives all of their wives and children. Two hundred of his men were left behind by the brook Besor because they did not have the strength to go forward. So David and four hundred men continued on and were able to defeat the Amalekites. They recovered not only their wives and children but also all the spoils that the Amalekites had taken from the land of Philistines and Judah. When they returned to the brook Besor, the four hundred men who fought the enemy were not willing to share the spoils with the two hundred men who did not go into battle.
Then said David, Ye shall not do so, my bretheren, with that which the Lord hath given us, who hath preserved us, and delivered the company that came against us into our hand. For who will hearken unto you in this matter? But as his part is that goeth down to the battle, so shall his part be that tarrieth by the stuff: they shall part alike.
1 Samuel 30:23, 24
So it became a statue that those who supported the army were given equal shares with those who went into battle. There is spiritual truth in that situation that applies to us today. Those who systematically, on a monthly basis, support a ministry become partners in the anointing of the ministry. To be a partner with a ministry, it is important to sow seeds in a systematic way like a farmer cultivating the land and consistently planting seeds in rows rather than impulsively scattering the seeds. And even more important in partaking of the anointing is where the seeds are planted. If the seeds are planted in good fertile soil, then there will be great harvest. But scattering seeds on rocky land or concrete will not yield results.
